With the pieces from the unit attached to both the water source and your hose, the water will automatically stop flowing as soon as you disconnect the hose. The water pressure from the source will essentially push down a built-in stopper with the hose disconnected that will stop the flow of water.

Trickle shut off means that the Phoenix Faucets Single Function RV Shower Head Kit # PF276046 in the off position does allow water to trickle out. This is easier on the seals of the shower head.

The Patrick Distribution RV Slide Bar Hand-Held Shower Set # 277-000035 has a trickle setting that will help you reduce the water flow greatly while you're scrubba-dub-dubbing. It sounds like the water heater is turned on so that's not it. Other things to check is that the fresh water supply and check that the water heater bypass line is shut. Otherwise it's defective and you'd need to check for error codes. view full answer...
It's really up to you how many you would like to use. If you plan on only keeping one tank open at a time while you're camping then 1 of the GasStop Emergency Propane Shut-Off Valve # GS24FR should suffice.
